DOGGY GOSS

July to Dec 2007

It's been a very busy 6 months for me, but I have finally got all the photos organised and on the Website - I hope you enjoy them!

Merry Christmas and may 2008 be a wonderful year for us all!

Here are 3 photos a Sydney Morning Herald photographer took one day in the park....(he took hundreds, but only sent me these 3!)

They weren't used for the story he was originally taking them for but last week one was used for a Barking Mad story.....(They desperately need members, so please join if you haven't already)

We welcome....

Bella

We say goodbye to and will miss.....

July 2006 to Jan 2007

Sad News:

Stella's bone cancer came back after one leg was amputated. She's out of pain and at peace now.

Charlie - lost his short battle with spleen cancer and is now at peace.

Molly - lost her long battle with degenerative diseases and is now at peace.

Melvin - while on holidays and chasing a cat, was hit by a car and killed instantly.

We'll miss all of you terribly but know you are happy running around the big park.

Happy News:

Lola is walking well on 3 legs and almost on her 4th leg. She came out for walks with us again until I hurt my back and couldn't lift her into the car anymore. She is now being walked by Garth and having a wonderful time!

March/April 2006

Sad news 1: Lola was running in the park with her owner, Ian, and she collapsed and was paralysed from the middle of the back down. He rushed her to the specialist vet in Crows Nest, they operated, but it was worse than they thought. She spent 4 weeks at the hosptial with only small progress with movement. Ian brought her home and Lola is much happier and doesn't realise she can't walk! There has been a little progress with movement since being at home but not enough that she will probably ever walk on four paws again.

I visit her 3 times a week and she is in great spirits - each time I visit she pulls herself almost to the front door and looks at me as if to say "well, aren't we going?!".

Ian has ordered her a trolley to carry her back legs, so that will make her more mobile. Time and a wonderful loving owner is on her side, so we can only hope she enjoys the rest of her life! We miss you Lola xx

Sad news 2: The beautiful Rani decided to leave us this month and go to the big park in the sky. She had a wonderful life, with a loving owner and had great fun on her walks with us. Thanks for the good times Rani, we'll miss you xx

Stella Update: Stella had a limp in her front leg, she rested, they x-rayed, but it kept coming back. Eventually Bone Cancer showed up on a second lot of x-rays just 3 weeks after the first lot. Her owner, Mercedes, was given the choice of letting her go to the big park in the sky or amputate (bone cancer is the most painful and pain killers would have lasted only a few weeks). Mercedes decided to amputate and the whole leg was taken off, right up to and part of the shoulder. After much loving Princess care from her family, Stella is back to her normal self, happy and cheeky! However our long walks are too much for her so we meet her at the local park occasionally. We miss you on our walks Stella xxx

Good News 1: Our very own Rosa was photographed for a story in The Financial Review and here it is.....

Good News 2: AND our very own "J" was photographed for a story in the local Southern Courier.......

One more thing....it's "Pick Up A Poo In Lieu" (ie we don't always see where our dog poops, so pick up someone else's just for the day) on 4 Aug - but don't worry if you're not at the park, I'll pick up one for you!!!

Hope you are all well and happy - we are....Sue, Fudge, Bob, Murphy & Dolly

The very clever Holly achieved her CD Certification - Congratulations Holly & Sharon!

The very fabulous Steve has joined our gang! He is alleviating my stress levels by walking all those doggies North of Bondi Road and will be walking your dog if I am sick or on hols. Steve adores dogs like I do and dogs have a natural bond with him, which is why we have him on board! Be assured, Steve loves your dog like I do!

JUNE 2003

This month 'Butch' (12mth Staffy) got a new brother 'Spike' (2yr Staffy X.)

Butch loves the companionship of other dogs so much that his owners decided to get him a doggy friend of his own. They play all day and sleep all night.

Spike was adopted from STAFFY rescue. Spike is a very friendly boy who loves to play with other dogs and receive hugs just as much as Butch, he just needed a home where he would be walked and allowed to interact with other dogs to prevent him from becoming bored and destructive.

Butch loves his new brother and Spike just loooves his new home and the gang at 'Time to Walk'.

Diesel was desexed this month and is now playing and having fun with gang!

* Last week the lovely Lola (see april news pic) was hit by a car while out walking with her owner. She had several minor injuries which are healing well with lots of rest and loads of love. She should be returning to our gang next week - we've missed you Lola!

APRIL 2003

Lola (right) has been off for a few days this week as she was showing signs of a cough, however, she has recovered quickly, so perhaps not it wasn't canine cough after all.

If your pooch is showing signs of a cough or lethargy, please keep them home and rested until they are fully well

Just thought I'd let you all know how easy it is to be hit by a running dog (or dogs)!!

We were having a lovely walk in Centennial Park on Friday 4 April (the day before I was moving downstairs!), when Honey (ridgeback) and Brooklyn (pitbull x staffy), both came running full pelt past me! Just as they did a body slam they hit the front of my left knee and kept going!

The pain was excruciating and I remember a lot of swear words coming out of me! However, the pain subsided and I continued walking. But by the time I had dropped all the doggies home, my knee was very swollen and after

Brooklyn & Honey
putting ice on it when I got home I couldn't walk and was in huge amounts of pain!

Louise (a friend and another dog walker) very kindly got me a pair of crutches and another friend, Lorna, brought pain killers! Went to Physio 8.30 Sat morning and was told it was 90% bruising and jarring, but wouldn't know for sure until the swelling went down.

Anyway, my knee got progressively better each day and with a lot of help from a lot of friends (particularly Victoria & Lorna), I was able to continue walking all your doggies!

My knee is now almost normal, just a little pain every so often, when I've overworked it! Just so you know, this is the first "dog-related" injury I have had in 8 years!

So the moral of the story is, train your dog not to run into people, that is, train them to "sit" whenever they are around people, and also, when you are at the dog park, watch out!!!!

My very sincere thanks to all those who helped me through this ordeal, your help was much appreciated!

With a sore knee......Sue X

MARCH 2003

On March 24, 2003 the beautiful Poppy (right) made it into the
'Womans Day' pet section.

This is Poppy our 2yr old Labradoodle, cross between a Labrador and a Poodle. She's an unusual mix with the looks of a dainty Poodle but the appetite of a very greedy Labrador, and she can hear the fridge door open from miles away, she has a fantastic temperament!

The entry won Poppy's owner Julie a $100.00 voucher from Pets Paradise. - Congratulations
